On May 2, on the eve of the parliamentary elections to be held in the NKR, Chairwoman of the NKR CEC Srbuhi Arzumanian held a press conference, which was attended by international and local observers, mass media representatives and guests. Most of them are participating in the national elections in Artsakh not for the first time. In her welcoming speech, on behalf of the Central Election Commission, S. Arzumanian expressed gratitude to the press conference participants for their interest towards the electoral processes in Artsakh.
According to the CEC Chairwoman, the elections of the 6th convocation Parliament are held, based on the NKR Constitution and the NKR new Electoral Code, which came into force on January 1, 2015. The new Code is based on the recommendations of the political Parties represented in the National Assembly and members of the Electoral Commissions, as well as on the amendments introduced by taking into account the opinions of the independent international observers who arrived in Artsakh to observe the electoral process.
According to S. Arzumanian, May 2 is a day of silence. No serious incident, especially violation, was recorded during the pre-election campaign. The electoral commissions mainly applied for clarification or removal of any deficiencies and omissions.
Over 100 international and 110 local observers, over 100 representatives of more than 40 mass media are invited to and participating in the current elections.
